Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia visits DIET Keshavpuram

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia visited the Delhi government’s teacher training institute ‘DIET Keshavpuram’ on Thursday and interacted with the pre-service teacher trainees. He also inspected their classes and discussed their plans as teachers and the pedagogical styles being taught to them.

On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister motivated them and said that a teacher has the ability to bring 360-degree change in society and lays the foundation of the country. He said that teachers work to improve society through their knowledge and values.

During the interaction, when he asked the trainees about their motivation to become a teacher, they said that they have experienced many changes in the education system in the last few years. These changes have improved their decision-making ability and boosted their confidence. This is the major motivation for them to become a teacher in the future. They added that now they want to bring changes in the education system of the country and contribute to society.

Reacting to this feedback, Shri Manish Sisodia said, “Our trainees aim to get a good job and become good teachers in the future, but now they need to broaden the horizon of their dreams. Every trainee teacher should dream that after becoming a teacher, they have to work towards making the Indian education system No.1 in the world. Today, the names of countries like Finland, Singapore and Britain are counted among those having the best education systems in the world. They must study these countries and the role of education in their development.”

He added that now we need to set the standard of the Indian Education System so high that its name should come on the top of the list when people search for the best education systems in the world.

He further added that the responsibility of making India’s education system the best is not only on the teachers teaching in our schools but also on the trainees who are going to become teachers in the future. “For this, it is necessary that our trainees understand the innovations being adopted in the field of education around the world and see what countries like Finland, Singapore or Britain are doing. He said that India will become No.1 only when future teachers will learn from the world’s most renowned educators and education systems and prepare themselves for global competition. The Indian education system will be counted among the top ones only when people from all over the world would want to learn from the education system of India.”

Discussing the ranks of 5 Delhi government schools in the list of top 10 state government schools in Education World School Rankings, Sisodia said that, in 2014-15, not a single school of the Delhi Government was in this ranking but today five schools have made it to the list. This has been made possible with the efforts of teachers who worked hard on students and made our schools excellent with their skills.

Sisodia said, “We have covered the journey from 0 to 5 in the last 7 years, but we do not have to stop here. Till the time all the Delhi government schools do not make it to the top rankings of India, we should continue to work hard each day. This will be possible only when our future teachers will change their approach towards education, think out of the box and keep learning something new continuously as a learner by not limiting themselves.”
